What's in a name?
I'm pretty sure I'm the only Janice that blogs. I could be wrong, but my experience has been that there are not many other "Janice's" under the age of 60. I don't mind having a "unique to my era" name. My teacher's never had to add my last initial when calling my name, like Julie S. and Julie A. I keep waiting for it to make a comback like so many of the old school names; Mary, Rose, James, Henry. I'm not getting my hopes up, I don't see it happening anytime soon. Let me know if you know of a little girl born in the last 10 years that has been named Janice. I guess it's not the most romantic name ever to roll off your tongue, but it has always accomplished it's task. A name by any other name is just a name.

Ah come on! Don't see yourself short. "Janice" rolls off the tongue like dew off of a spring leaf. And boy is it ever romantic! You never know, perhaps Shakespeare considered "Romeo and Janice" before settling with Juliet. Consider this:
"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east and Janice is the sun."
Besides, you could be named Virgil.
Oh Janice, this is late, but better late than never. I had the opposite problem... I was one of those... Allyson T. Or as if that wasn't bad enough, no one could EVER spell my name right... it was always Alison, Allison, Alysen, Alicen, Alyson, Allysen or some other CRAZY variation... its amazing how many different ways there are to spell it... but besides the point. I like your name. There is something to be said for uniqueness. "Allyson" would get called down the hall and 4 girls would turn around and sadly enough they were never talking to me :( hahah! Anyway, don't fret. In the footsteps of Eric, there are plenty worse names... Virgil, Gertrude, Atilla, Vestle... LOTS worse... :)

Hi Janice!
Love the name. I have to tell you that my name is Janice French as well and I'm under 60 and I KNOW what mean! I found you when I was trying to create a blog under my name! Have a great day!
Janice

Dont know if you are still around, but it was fun to see your blog...funnier still that it is the same as template as mine www.chickycola.blogspot.com
Hi Janice, my name is also Janice French age 37 and live in Boston. I work in a classroom with another teacher whose first name is Janice. I think of my name as unique also. My grandma called me Ja-nice and have had other pet names over the years but I am proud of my name. So although it seems as though it's a shortage of Janice's guess what when people meet us they we always make a lasting impression and it is usually always a positive one.
